Lemon Sherbet (Maria Teresa Faria de Freitas)
1 quart water
2 cups sugar
2 cups lemon juice
2 egg whites slightly beaten

Boil the sugar and water for 20 minutes. After it begins to cool, add fruit juices and the slightly beaten whites of egg. Freeze – stirring once or twice after the first half hour.
