Flap Jacks  [16] (Maria Teresa Faria de Freitas)
10 oz rolled oats
2 oz sugar
¼ tsp salt
3 tbsp Golden Syrup
5 oz butter or margarine


  1. Mix sugar and butter until creamy.
  2. Stir in warmed golden syrup and then work in the oats and salt until all is blended.
  3. Put into buttered tin, pressing into corners.
  4. Bake in a moderate oven (350F) for about 45 minutes.
  5. Leave in tin until cold. Then cut into ½ lengthwise and then into fingers crosswise.
