Date and Banana Dessert [6] (Fay Anne de Freitas)
8 bananas
1 lb dates stoneless
4 satsumas or 2 oranges peeled and segmented
12 fl. oz single cream
1 oz plain semi-sweet chocolate – grated
  1. Thinly slice the bananas crossway; slice the dates in half; separate the satsumas/oranges into sections.
  2. Arrange approximately one half of the banana slices on the bottom of a medium-sized serving dish.
  3. Pour 2 fl. oz of single cream over them.
  4. Arrange about one half of the dates and similarly pour a further 2 fl. oz on top of the dates.
  5. . Arrange a layer of satsumas/oranges on top and again add 2 fl. oz of cream over the top.
  6. Continue alternating layers until all fruit has been added, ending with a layer of cream.
  7. Chill the mixture in the fridge for at least one hour until quite cold.
  8. Just before serving, sprinkle the grated chocolate on top.
