Chocolate Sauce (Maria Teresa Faria de Freitas)
2 oz chocolate
½ tsp vanilla
½ pint water
1 oz sugar

½ oz cornflour
1 tbsp brandy
1 tbsp sherry

  1. Dissolve the chocolate in half a glass of water.
  2. Blend the cornflour with a little of the remaining water and put the rest to boil.
  3. Add the dissolved chocolate to the boiling water and then pour it over the blended cornflour.
  4. Mix well and return to the rinsed pan.
  5. Cook through adding sugar and wine at the last.
