Cherry Winks (Delma Gomes From a Kellogg’s box)
5 cups Kellogg’s cornflakes 2¼ cups sifted all-purpose flour ¾ cup margarine or butter 1 cup pitted dates – finely cut 1 cup chopped nuts (opt)	1 tsp baking powder ½ tsp baking soda 1 cup sugar 2 cups fine cut maraschino cherries	½ tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 2 eggs 15 maraschino cherries quartered
Crush cornflakes into large crumbs. Sift the flour, baking powder/soda and salt. Measure the margarine (or butter) and sugar into a large bowl and beat until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat well. Add the sifted ingredients and mix until combined. Add the nuts, dates and cherries and stir in. Shape tablespoons of dough into balls and roll in the crushed cornflakes. Add a topping cherry quarter to each ball. Place on a greased baking dish and bake at 375F/190C for 12 minutes.
