Bolo de João - John’s Cake (Maria Teresa Faria de Freitas)
A lemon peel
Lemon juice
A piece of cinnamon

A loaf of bread
16 egg yokes
1 lb of sugar

  1. Cut the bread into slices and remove the crust.
  2. Melt the sugar in some water. This syrup should be of a thin consistency because the bread is then added to it.
  3. Remove from the cooker, mix in the egg yokes, slightly beaten. Heat again so as to cook the egg yokes.
  4. Once finished, put on a plate and sprinkle the cinnamon on top.
