Biscuits (Beryl de Freitas)
¼ lb margarine
2 oz lard

¼ lb caster sugar
Cream

¼ lb Quaker Oats
¼ lb flour

  1. Cream the margarine and lard. Gradually add the caster sugar and cream.
  2. Sift together the oats and flour.
  3. Mix all together.
  4. Take small portions in a teaspoon and roll into small round balls.
  5. Place on ungreased baking sheet and press balls flat into small round biscuits.
  6. Prick with a fork.
  7. Bake to a light brown in a medium hot oven.
  8. The biscuits will be soft and warm when they come out of the oven but become crisp when they are cool.


Biscuits (Delma Gomes)
½ lb butter
½ tsp baking powder

1 egg
2 ½ cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
  1. Mix the butter and sugar, then add the egg and stir.
  2. Add the flour, baking powder and vanilla essence.
  3. Put through squeezer on to a greased and floured sheet or pan.
  4. Sprinkle with granulated sugar or icing sugar.
